The kids love going to the softball games, but they are way too much for me to handle on my own! Fortunately, Grandpa Bob, Aunt Deachi, Aunt Lindsay, and Randy were all there to help me chase after the kiddos. For the most part they were really good, but sometimes they like to explore. Typcially when they decide to explore, its in two different directions. Needless to say, I didn't watch much of the game, but Jimmy tells me they won.
The highlight of the evening was keeping Drew from going in the men's restroom and trying to keep him from eating everything he found on the ground - including a cigarette butt (nasty!). He also kept trying to drink people's beer.
Not much else has been going on in the Dautrich world this week. I'm ready for the weekend so we can finish Corry's big girl room. We have a little more sanding to do, and then painting. It will stay a guest room until after the wedding and then the big transition from a baby bed to a big girl bed will take place. I don't think I'm ready for this!!!

Going out to eat
Jimmy and I used to love to go out to eat....now its just miserable. Corry is an angel at restaurants, but Drew is horrid. He has no interest in sitting at the table. He wants to get down and run around, and he is furious when we don't let him (the only time he gets to is if we're at a kids friendly restaurant like Chuck E Cheese). Last night we went to Wings N More because both kids seemed to be in good moods. The instant we sat down, Drew threw a fit. We told the waiter we were just going to order our food to go, but then Drew calmed down, so we decided to give it a try. Jimmy and I had to take turns taking him out of the restaurant because he would scream so loud. He was okay once the food got there, but as soon as he was finished eating he was a monster again. Please tell me this is just a phase and that we will be able to go to a restaurant again someday!!!!!!!
Anytime you ask Corry what she wants for dinner her answer is always, "chicken and fries." She eats quite of a bit of chicken and fries when we go out to eat, or bring something home. So last night when the food hit the table she got soooooooooo excited when she saw it and asked me "Is it chicken and fries???" Like she NEVER gets to have it or something. She's just so enthusiastic about her chicken and fries!
At one point when I was outside with Drew last night he tried to dart into the parking lot, and of course, I wouldn't let him. So he picked up a big rock from the landscaping, looked at me, and then threw the rock onto the sidewalk. When I bent over to pick it up, he took off for the parking lot, cracking up the whole time. I swear, that little man may not be much of a talker or a reader, but I think he's a pretty sharp cookie. Too bad he doesn't use his smarts for good rather than evil.

All Smooth
Corry was an enormous handful yesterday. Drew was too, but he always is. Usually Corry's the easy one. We had tons of laundry to do, and Jimmy's trying to finish Corry's big girl room before the wedding. So, while he was working on the room, I was folding laundry, which meant the kids were moderately unsupervised.....BAD IDEA! Drew unloaded Jimmy's bathroom cabinet and thought it was a fun place to hide. I got out the camera, snapped a few pics, and thought - sure just let them play in there. Corry comes waltzing into the living room a little while later coated in a blue slime exclaiming "I'm all smooth!" She had covered herself in Jimmy's travel sized bottle of Head and Shoulders shampoo....easy enough to rinse off, but a big mess to clean up off the bathroom floor. Fast forward to after naptime. She went into the bedroom to look for her "people" (Dora & Diego figures) and was in there a long time. When I went to see what she was up to she was standing in the bedroom coated in Desitin Diaper Cream. That stuff doesn't come off without a lot of scrubbing. I think she still has some caked in her belly button.
Hopefully today is a day full of fewer messes!

Heaven
When Mom's 20 year old cat was put to sleep earlier this year, Corry immediately noticed that Mortie was no longer around. We told her that Mortie was in heaven playing with balls. Later on in the year when Jack & Connie's dog, Minnie Pearl went to heaven she was told that Minnie was now with Mortie and they were playing with balls together in heaven.
Last night when I was putting her to bed she asked me who Faith’s mama was (a co-worker's foster daughter who will be celebrating her 1st birthday tomorrow), then she asked me who Aunt Lindsay’s mama was, then she asked me who Uncle Olech’s mama was, then she asked me who Grandma Chebs mama was, then she asked me who Great Grandma Bullard’s mama was, I told her it was Great Great Grandma Self and that she was in heaven. She then asked who Daddy’s mama was, and who her mama was, and who Grandpa Jack’s mama was, etc. Every time we would get to a deceased relative, I would tell her that they were in heaven. Then she asked me if she was going to get to go to heaven, and I told her that some day should would, and she asked me if I was going to go to heaven with her. She said when we get to heaven we’re going to play with balls with Mortie and Minnie Pearl. She so sweet, but it sort of broke my heart at the same time.

Corry's Favorite Book & Drew the Monster
I'm not sure who gave Corry "Count the Ways Little Brown Bear" book for one of the baby showers we had before she was born, but let me just say that while it is a sweet little story, I'm not really a fan after having read it for the 800th time this evening. Miss Corry adores this book, and one of her new phrases while she fights bedtime is "I want to stay up and count the ways you love me, Mommy." If only she would let Daddy put her to bed in the evenings. He offered to read it to her tonight, but it had to be Mommy.
Also, our little Drew was quite the ham during the superbowl party with the family. Any time Charlie (Matt's dad) would try to take a picture Drew was right up in front of the camera saying "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!" He also learned a new phrase and signal - He throws his arms up in the air and yells "Touchdown!"
Since Drew seems to be the one who keeps us on our toes the most - here's another crazy Drew story. He's recently learned how to take off his diaper. Tonight he was standing in front of the TV when he decided to strip down. He yanked off the diaper, got a huge smile on his face, and took off running. Unfortunately, it was a loaded diaper and left a bit of a mess. He was pretty proud of himself. I swear, these kids are 10 times messier than a new puppy could even dream of being. At least we have a whole closet full of cleaning supplies!

Drew's 18 month appt
Drew had his 18 month appointment today, and yea - no shots this time. He's doing great - between 25-50 percentile in height and weight and just over 50 in head size. He weighs 24lbs. He was a maniac in the dr's office - emptying the trash can and dancing all around the room. They aren't starting him in speech therapy yet because he's picked up on his vocabulary a little more. They said if we're still concerned in another 2 months they would refer him, but she said its very normal for the 2nd child not to talk as much. They also do a new screen for autism since that's such a hot topic these days and they said he's definitely not autistic.
So, our little man is doing great! He got to have a special lunch at Culver's with Mom and Dad before returning home to nap. He enjoyed his corn dog and fries and then fell asleep on the car ride home. He and the girls are napping now.
So that's the latest with the little man! I'll post another Corry and Drew update this evening.

Aunt Marta
Drewsky the pervert barged in on Aunt Marta this morning while she was trying to take a bath. At least he closed the bathroom door after she asked him to. She said he helped her control the temperature of the water. I guess she'll know next time that its best to lock the door behind her if she'd like to have some privacy while washing her hair :)
We're enjoying the visit so far with Aunt Marta, Uncle Gary, and Great Grandma. Corry's been a little emotional, but I think that's mainly because she's still trying to get over her cold.
