Update from Florida

Matt and I are in Florida at our software providers user's conference. Boring! But its really pretty here and we have a great view of the ocean from our rooms (yes, we have separate rooms). I miss my babies like crazy, and Jimmy too, of course. We're getting ready to head off to our dinner and dance, then we have more sessions tomorrow before we head back to Houston. We'll only be in the office on Wednesday, then we'll head to Ponca City to celebrate Grandma's 80th birthday a few months late. Corry is sooooo excited about going on vacation to Oklahoma. We'll see how excited she still is after 8 hours in the car!

Don't really have any baby updates since they are there and I am here, so sorry to be so boring. I'll have some pictures after our 4th of July party in Ponca!

Toilet Issues & Corry Brag

So our guest bath hasn't been flushing properly over the last week or so. Even if its just toilet paper in there, it won't all go down. This evening after a few crown & cokes Jimmy decided to put on his plummer's crack and investigate. Turns out someone we all know and love decided to try and flush a golf ball down the toilet. Daddy successfully fished it out, and now the potty flushes like a charm. Drewsky wears me out.

So heres my Corry brag - the other day we were sitting on the front porch rocking & waiting for Daddy to get home from work. A car went by and Drewsky said "Red Car!" Corry said, "Can you say rojo?" I asked her what she said and she said, "rojo means red in spanish." Then she listed off the other spanish colors she knows - blue, green, & yellow. Thank you, Dora the Explorer, you have made our daughter more proficient in Spanish than her parents. This morning I thanked her for something and she said, "No problemo, Mommy." I guess living in Houston its important for her to know Spanish!

I'm going to try and upload my first video clips this weekend. We'll see if I'm succesful. Good night - I'm off to enjoy Crown & Coke night!

Interesting stories for this evening

We had a pretty good storm this afternoon and it managed to almost knock part of our fence over. Jimmy and I were putting some brackets on the fence when we looked down - Corry had dropped her pants and was peeing in the grass. Guess she just wanted to be like Maddie and Meghan.....good grief.

We took the kids to dinner at Chilis. We ordered some chips & queso to keep Drew entertained until the food got there. He preferred to dip his crayons in ketchup and munch on those instead. He tried green first, but apparently blue was much tastier - he gnawed away quite a bit of it before I noticed what he was doing.

It wasn't a bad outing though....he was a little loud, but happy loud, not whiney loud. Now we're home and all clean - Drew's sleeping and Corry's entertaining Daddy. Matt & I leave for a user's conference for our software provider on Sunday and don't come back until Tuesday. It will be my first time away from the kids. Can't wait to see how Daddy does with his added morning responsibilities! Matt and I are looking forward to our romantic getaway at Amelia Island in Florida. Next year we want to plan ahead and bring Deachi & Jimmy along as well....the place looks really nice!

That's all I have for today....I'm sure there will be more stories to post this weekend!

He's baaaaaack!

Mom babysat last night so Jimmy & I could go see Indiana Jones....this meant she put Drewsky to bed (normal time approx 8:30). Well at 6:00 this morning Drewsky was calling out in his loudest voice "Grandma!" He was ready to go - I tried to get him back to sleep, but no chance.

I hopped in the shower and he desperately wanted to take a shower with me. After I got done shampooing my hair I looked over and saw him standing there with only his shirt on. When I wouldn't let him in, he went over to the bathtub and turned the jets on....not a good thing for the motor when there's no water in the tub. I had to get out of the shower, covered in soap & stop him from turning on the jets. He thought that was hilarious. When I got out of the shower & started looking for his diaper I found it on my closet floor....along with a little terd that had rolled out.

We decided to go to the grocery store because the kids will be at our house this week so we needed stuff for lunches etc. The way Jimmy's grocery store of preference is laid out you enter through the produce section. So we got some oranges & apples, and then Jimmy got a couple bunches of bananas. Drew freaked out because he wanted to eat a banana. He couldn't get over it, and was throwing a HUGE fit, so Jimmy took him out to the car while Corry & I shopped. He cried the whole time and all the way home. I guess he wore himself out because he wanted to go night night as soon as we got home (10:15am) - naptime is usually 1:00. He was being such a monster I went ahead and laid him down and then went and got him up 45 minutes later.

We had lunch and he played & then we laid them down around 1:00. He sat up there and talked at the top of his lungs until 2:30. I finally went up and got him and he had a blast playing by himself without anyone taking things away from him or yelling at him.

Grandpa Jack & Grandma Connie came over to see the kids and to have dinner. Drew got ticked off at me after bathtime because I made him put on clothes. He had golf balls in his hands so he started hitting me on the head with them. When I took them away he started pulling my hair. So I locked him out of the room and stayed in there with Corry while she finished her bath. He was none too pleased about that, but he managed to recover.

At one point in the evening he wandered into the laundry room, picked up the dog's ENORMOUS water bowl and dumped the whole thing. Daddy was not a happy camper about that one, but I was actually kind of glad - the floor in there was really sticky and I was just getting ready to get out the mop to clean it - so he actually did Mommy a favor :)

So those were just the highlights of a typical day in the life of Mr. Drew Bryan Dautrich. Thank goodness I go to work tomorrow! Haha!

Painting

The kids were both out of control whiney Saturday morning - not sure what that was all about, so I was jumping from activity to activity trying to keep them happy. Breaking out the new paints that Aunt Lindsay gave Corry for her birthday seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately Drew didn't get to paint for long - he thought using a paint brush was highly overrated and preferred to just dunk his hands in all the different cups of paint. Of course he didn't rinse his hands before dunking them in the next color, so the colors didn't stay pure for too long. Drew & I went in to bathe and Corry was able to finish her masterpiece. Daddy brings home old plans from work so she has lots of big sheets of paper for her artwork.

Why on earth would anyone want to use one of these things when you have two perfectly good hands??

What a wicked little smile.

Bathtime Fun!

Usually Friday nights are Crown & Coke night, but we haven't had one in several weeks. 3 weeks ago we were in North Carolina, then last week Drew was feeling under the weather, and unfortunately this Friday Aunt Deachi seems to have caught the plague as well (sorry Deachi!). Since Jimmy had already marinated the steaks for our Friday night get together, Matt & Calyn came over and joined us. Since Dad is out of town, my mom joined us as well. It was a pretty low key evening, but we got some cute pics of the kiddos enjoying a bubble bath.

Blooping Heeeeem

Corry's word for "him" is "heeem" I'm not quite sure how to spell that, but it started when Drew started getting into her stuff. She'd say, I don't want "heeem" to touch that, or something of that nature. Now it has turned into her nickname for Drew. She was really into biting for awhile, and then scratching & clawing if he got into her stuff. She would get in trouble and have to sit in time out. She understood that hitting & scratching were not acceptable since we told her that over and over, so instead she would hit him and we'd ask what she just did. She would say "I just blooped him." or if she was getting ready to hit or scratch him she would say "I'm going to bloop heeem." I guess in her mind as long as it isn't called hitting or scratching its okay.

So the other day we were in the car and all of a sudden I hear Corry say "No Heeem!" and then I hear Drewsky say "Bloop" and then Corry started bawling because Drewsky just "blooped" her. I told her that he learned it from the master and that if she hadn't taught "heeem" how to "bloop" she probably wouldn't be getting "blooped" right now.

My funny Drew story for the week: Any time he hears a timer or buzzer of any kind he gets so excited and yells "Cookies Ready!" I guess we make a few too many chocolate chip cookies in the Dautrich house. We hadn't had any in awhile, so Jimmy made some for him the other day. I haven't seen him get that excited in ages!

Doctor visit for the kiddos

I made the kids doctors appointments today - Drew is still Mr Clingy Clingerton, has the runs, and pretty much just wants to be held all the time. Corry has to go pee pee every 10-15 minutes, and then says it hurts each time she goes. So, to the doctor we went! They are pretty sure Drew's is just a virus, and hopefully he's on the downhill side of it. Corry had to give a urine sample (which actually was easier than expected). The initial result came back negative for a bladder infecftion, but the doctor said that wasn't really a big surprise because of her age - they are culturing it and we should know something by Wednesday. In the meantime they have put her on antibiotics because it definitely sounds like she has a bladder infection from what we described. They did send us home with stool sample kits that we're supposed to do with both kids if they still are having issues over the next couple days. Not looking forward to that little project....may leave that up to Jimmy.

I don't think I mentioned that Corry had a "well baby" appointment on Friday - she's 31 lbs, 37 3/4 inches tall. She's in the 50th percentile in height and weight. Jimmy ended up taking her to her appointment because I was home laying on the couch with my siamese twin, Drewsky.

This evening after the doctor's appointment we went to Toys R Us to get a special prize since they were good for the visit, then came home to have some dinner. Drew wouldn't eat anything. I gave him a bath and as soon as he got out he said, "Night night." Although it was only 6:40, I decided if that was what was going to make him happy, then "night night" was what he was going to do. I love Drew to pieces, but I have to admit that after spending every waking moment for 4 days in a row, holding him, being covered in his puke, cleaning up his messy diapers, I'm ready for a little bit of separation!

Sorry I don't have any funny stories to post about - we've been pretty pitiful for the last several days. I guess one somewhat funny thing - Corry and I were sitting on the couch watching the Wonder Pets and I started coughing. She said, "Mommy, cover your mouth when you cough." Its pretty sad when you get manner lessons from your 3 year old!

As soon as Drew snaps out of this funk and returns to the old Drewsky we all know and fear, I mean love, I'll be sure and update the blog. But for now I will spare you any more stories of the Dautrich illness gore!

Poor Corry & Drew

The virus lingers on - both kids aren't throwing up anymore, but instead its coming out the other end. They are both having terrible stomach cramps, but Corry, being potty trained has learned how to "hold it in." I keep telling her if she lets it out her tummy will feel much better. Well, yesterday after 5 straight days of holding it in it finally caught up with her. We were at Grandpa Jack & Grandma Connie's house celebrating father's day with Uncle Craig, Aunt Lindsay & Kailey when she kept saying she needed to go potty. As soon as we'd put her on the potty she'd jump off and start crying. We took her home and all the way home she SCREAMED - painful screams. When we got home I immediately took her into the potty, put my arms around her and held her down on the potty. Since she wasn't able to jump up and hold it it, she finally got some relief. She took a bath & went to bed shortly after. Well, sometime in the night the rest of it caught up to her. This morning when she came down she was covered in it, as well as all her bedding and some of her stuffed animals. I feel so bad for her - we've told her over and over that she has to stay in bed until the sun comes up. I guess she didn't realize that there are exceptions to that rule.....like when you have to go potty! I don't know if it happened while she was asleep or what, but it sure was a nasty mess for Daddy to have to clean up on Father's Day!

Speaking of father's day - Corry said she wanted to get Daddy golf balls for father's day. So yesterday we went shopping for golf balls. She found some Sponge Bob Square Pants golf balls that she thought would be just perfect for Daddy. I told her that it was a surprise for Daddy, so not to tell him what we got him, and that he would open his present on Father's Day and would be so excited. She agreed. Well, after she got up from her nap I was fixing her hair and talking to Aunt Deachi on the phone. Daddy was shaving. She looked over at him and said, "Daddy, we got you some Sponge Bob Square Pants golf balls." So much for keeping a secret! I guess Corry's days of helping mommy shop for presents are going to be over until we understand the concept of "surprise!"

Drew's starting to come out of the sickness - we actually got some smiles and he even did his "mean teeth" to us a few times, but then the runs hit and he's back to whining and needing mommy to hold him. Surely this thing has to be about over! I'm ready to have healthy babies again.

Hope all the dad's have a good father's day. As long as we're all feeling okay we'll be heading to Grandma Chebs & Grandpa Bob's house for a celebration this evening!

Sick, Sick & Sick some more

Corry got sick while we were on vacation. Then Drew & I both got colds which started on Tuesday. This morning Drew woke up early and started throwing up. The only thing he had to "eat" today was water, 2 pop-ices, motrin, and a few drinks of iced tea...none of it ended up staying down. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

My fever started at around 4:30 today, so I'm sure its just a matter of time before I end up puking as well. So far Jimmy is the only one who is escaping the cold & whatever virus this is we're passing around.

I'm ready for us to all be well again!!!!!!

Pictures from Georgia & North Carolina

I'll try and recap our trip to Georgia & North Carolina sometime in the next few days, but I wanted to at least get a few of my favorite pics out here!
Sleepy babies after a busy day of Stone Mountain & playing with cousins Emma, Nathan, Joshua, & Cooper
Stopped along the way to try and keep the babies from getting carsick on the winding mountain roads.
What sweet little kids! Too bad they don't always get along like this!

Drew, Grandma Chebs, Corry, & Papa Bob on top of the "tallest mountain" This was on top of Stone Mountain in Georgia.

Corry getting thrown up to the sky by daddy at the hotel swimming pool in Dillard, Georgia.
Drew making quite the fashion statement in Emma's swim goggles. Pink is his favorite color after all!

Corry's 3rd Birthday

Today Miss Corry is 3 years old! We started off the morning with a sausage biscuit & hashbrowns from McDonald's per her request. We played for a little while at home, then Calyn, Max, & Aunt Deachi came over before we headed to the mall. We met Grandpa Bob & Grandma Chebs at the food court and had some corn dogs. Then we rode the carousel (Corry rode the orange kitty, of course). After the carousel ride we headed down to Build A Bear where we met Daddy & Uncle Matt. Corry chose an orange kitty (big surprise), Drew chose a monkey, and Calyn chose a bright pink spotted bear. Corry chose an orange cheerleader outfit for her kitty who she named Milo. Drew's monkey is wearing a Texans football uniform and Corry named his monkey "Mommy Monkey" for him. Calyn dressed her pink bear in a snow white outfit (red, yellow, & blue). She has quite the colorful little bear. I think she named her bear snow white.

I can't believe I forgot my camera, but Deachi remembered hers, so hopefully she'll share the pictures. Kids are taking a nap now and this evening we'll all meet at Johnny Rockets for dinner. So far its been a fun day!

Birthday Party #3

We celebrated Corry's 3rd birthday on Saturday evening (her actual birthday is Tuesday June 3. Here's a picture of the big girl with her Dora balloons. She had gone with me to Walmart earlier in the day to choose ice cream for her party and to pick up a few other things. She said "mommy, what I am going to wear for my birthday party dress?" We were by the clothes and I saw I really cute dress and she liked it to, so we decided to get that for the party dresss. Unfortunately I forgot something that I needed in the baby section and when I went to get it the Dora dress she is wearing was right next to it. Obviously the cute little floral dress we had originally chosen was not sufficient for her party dress, so she wore the Dora dress instead. Oh well, it was her big day, so I guess she should be able to wear whatever she wants!
Corry has really enjoyed this Kitty Cat eating spaghetti card from Auntie M and Uncle Gary. She keeps carrying it around and saying "Mommy, what is this kitty doing? Its so silly,"
Here's the big bouncy house Corry got to have for her bithday party and for being a big girl and using the potty now. I'm not sure who had more fun with it - the kids or the adults. My mom was the first to crater the whole thing by bouncing too close to the side. Way to go T!
Here's Corry's birthday cake that Mom made for her. If you couldn't tell, we had a Dora themed party.
