Funny Story from the weekend

The weekend was mostly yucky, but a couple of funny Drew things did happen that I forgot to mention. First thing was from the birthday parties Saturday night. Corry wasn't feeling well at all and asked to go to bed really early. Calyn was playing with Corry's princess dolls and decided she wanted to go up to the playroom & play. She asked where Corry was. Deachi told her that she wasn't feeling well and had gone to bed. Calyn said "Okay, come on, Drew!" Drew jumped to his feet & followed Calyn up the stairs like a little puppy. He was so excited to be included. Jimmy said it was like he got moved to the starting line up.

My funnier Drewski story happened on Sunday. Remember the picture from a few weeks ago in my "MANIAC!" Post where Drew had climbed up the stairs using the outside rail? Well, picture that same scenario, excpet this time he thought it would have even more of a shock effect if he stripped down totally naked and scaled the railing. Jimmy was the one who got to walk in and find him up there this time. He'd never seen him do it in real life, let alone completely nude.

He's such a character.

Hopefully Mom & Deachi will feel better tomorrow. I'm still baffled that I haven't gotten sick yet, but I'm not completely convinced that its going to pass me by yet. Time will tell. Not much else going on. I'm holding out for a better weekend this week!

The bright red truck & other pics

I never got another picture taken in the daylight of the new truck since I was up to my elbows in vomit all weekend, so here's a couple pictures from its first night home. Fortunately for Jimmy it does fit in the garage with the Saturn (its a tight squeeze, but it fits).

Hope everyone had a better weekend than we had! I think the kids are well now, we'll see if Jimmy & I escape the plague.

Now Corry's sick

Corry started throwing up at midnight last night. I was up with her every hour to two hours. I'm exhausted. She missed gymnastics today which she was really upset about. Drew & I went to his class and he had a fun time.

Both kids are asleep now. I'm hoping Corry will feel better when she wakes up so we can do the birthday celebrations tonight as planned (Jimmy, Charlie, & Connie). If not I guess I'll stay here with her and they will have the party at Deachi & Matt's house or Jack & Connie's house.

My poor babies have had a tough couple days.

Jimmy's new toy

Jimmy finally got his truck today. He got a 2008 Toyota Tundra double cab....its bright red. The ironic part is at every place we went to look at trucks they would ask him what color. He would always say, "I'm pretty open, just not red." When he saw this red Tundra today though, he decided it would be the truck that made him look the sexiest :) Its too dark for good pictures tonight, so I will take some more in the morning & post the new toy. I'm just glad this is behind us now - I hate car shopping!!

Yucky start to the weekend

Friday didn't start off too great - I had just finished getting ready at about 6:20am when I heard Drew calling my name (even though he's in a big boy bed he still hasn't figured out he has the freedom to come downstairs on his own - he wants to me to come and let him out of his room). I debated waiting a while to see if he'd go back to sleep, but he was calling pretty loudly & I was afraid he'd wake up Corry. The instant I opened his door the odor was horrendous. At first I just thought he pooped, but soon realized he was covered from head to toe in vomit.

I gave him a bath & seemed okay all morning. He ate breakfast & never threw up again so I came to work. Mom & Deachi took the kids to Pump It Up this morning & they said he had fun, but you could tell he still didn't feel very well.

Hopefully he'll be better when he gets up from his nap. I really hope it was just something he ate & not a virus. I don't want us to all be sick for the weekend

The Little Gym

The kids had their first gymnastics class on Saturday. It was supposed to be the Saturday of the hurricane, but for obvious reasons the class was cancelled. Drew's class was a parent & me class which meant Jimmy & I were in the class with him. They talked about how at the age that he was its very difficult for them to sit and listen to a teacher, so to let him run free & do whatever he wanted. If he sees his parents following the teacher's instructions, he will eventually come back over and follow along as well. He did pretty well, and had an absolute BLAST.

The girls class was after Drew's & the parents stay behind the glass & the kids are in there with the instructors. I was afraid Corry would freak out because I wasn't in there, but she loved it. She & Calyn had trouble listening to the teachers every now and then in the beginning, but by the end of the class they were doing really well.


Poor little Drew didn't understand why he had to stay out of their class. At one point I was watching Corry sitting in the big circle and marveling at how relaxed & comfortable she seemed. All of a sudden I realized Drew had joined the class! He had snuck in through an open back door....so I had to go in there and retrieve him. It was so embarrassing. He was not at all happy about being drug out of the class. Jimmy took him down to Woodlands Golf & they did some shopping. In the future I think I'll have Jimmy bring Corry up towards the end of Drew's class & then take Drew home for Corry's class. That was just torture making him sit there for an hour watching the girls have fun.


On a very frustrating note - we received a letter on Saturday from an attorney stating we are being sued by the people in the other car. While I was totally expecting this, it still has us both fuming. The letter is obviously from an "ambulance chaser" as there were a few typos & our last name was grossly misspelled. We will be forwarding the letter to our insurance company in the morning. I don't think it should take much for our insurance companies attorneys to dispute this case.....we just really wanted it to all be over.

The Corry pictures are a little blurry because I was taking them through a glass wall. She insisted on wearing her orange eskimo joe's t-shirt to class (sigh). Now that we know she liked gymnastics, we will probably get her some leotards. Here is Corry getting some practice on the uneven bars.

It was really tought to get good pictures because they were constantly on the move! I will try to do better in the future, but I fear will not succeed!

Hurricane Pictures

I've hardly taken any pictures lately, which is so unlike me. Here are a few pictures I took during the hurricane.

This is a bad picture of the broken fence, but the neighbor had already fixed it by the time I got hom from San Antonio. One panel near the back corner of the yard blew down. the back is all wavy now, so I think we'll have to build up some kind of support for it, but it at least remained standing.

Happy Birthday Jimmy aka Daddy

Today is Jimmy's birthday. Since we've had no power & I've been out of town I haven't had a chance to go shopping. I asked Corry what she wanted to get Daddy for his birthday. Her reply was "Baseball things." I asked her if there was anything else she wanted to get him. She said "the internet & electricity." I told Jimmy about it and he got a kick out of it. So when he got home he asked her what she was going to get him for his birthday. She told him "breakable things & a generator." I think someone has the effects of the hurricance (aka hurnicane) on her mind!

We've got the power!!!

Yea - we just got home from San Antonio & met over at mom & dad's house. They didn't have power. We pulled into Harper's Landing & noticed a lot of people had lights on. Jimmy flipped our braker & sure enough - we have power! Unfortunately Deachi & Matt don't (weird since they just live 2 blocks away). They are spending the night with us tonight.

Corry's reaction was "Yea! I can watch TV!" Jimmy asked her what she wanted to ask and she said "Baseball!" I can't believe I go away for 4 days and he's corrupted the children. Oh well.

Going home!

Our office has power, so Matt & I will be on our way home soon. I can't wait to see my babies.

None of our homes have power yet except Olech & Lindsay & Jack & Connie.

Jimmy's having to work out of the Houston office which he's not at all pleased about (an hour down there & an hour back) That coupled with the fact that there is no gas and they still expect him to work 9 hours in addition to the 2 hour drive has him pretty ticked.

I think its still supposed to be another week before we have power, but its slowly starting to come back on throughout The Woodlands. Hopefully it will come back on sooner rather than later.

That's all I know for now. When I get home I'll try to upload some pictures of our fence damage (thrilling, I know).

Update on Ike aftermath

I left my family behind in a hot house with no AC to work out of our San Antonio office. There are 4 of us here. While I feel extremely guilty for leaving Jimmy & the kids behind, it was nice having dinner & margaritas last night & sleeping in an air conditioned hotel room.

The only damage we had was a portion of our fence blew down. Nobody else in our family had major damage either, so that's good.

Kids are going stir crazy. I tried to get Jimmy to come here with them, but he decided to stay and see if we could get a better idea of when the power may come back on. If we can get confirmation that it will be a lot longer, he may reconsider & come over here. I hope it comes back on soon so I can get home and see my babies.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else. I don't have anyone's email address here, so I figured those of you that read the blog could pass on the info to the other family memebers. I do have access to home & work email & will be checking them regularly.

Update on the other vehicle's passengers

Our claims handler was able to get some more information on the people from the other vehicle through their insurance agent. They were attempting to make the u-turn under the interstate to head to the hospital when the accident happened - the lady in the backseat was complaining of chest pains. We don't know anything about her condition. The man is still in the hospital. They have not amputated his arm yet...he didn't know anymore information than that other than its going to be a long drawn out process since they cannot question the man until he's out of the hospital. All the information they have is from the passenger that was in the front seat.

I'll let you know if we hear anything more about the other people. Jimmy is supposed to talk to their insurance claims handler. She called him today, but he was in a meeting and couldn't take the call. He was a bit irritated with her message though. He was going to make it perfectly clear to her that there was no doubt about whether or not he had a green light. It seems like there is even more of a reason to believe that the other driver may have gotten confused at the light if he was in a hurry to get his wife to the hospital.

On a lighter note - Jimmy was mowing the yard Friday when the lawn mower started making a horrible sound. He lifted it a little to see what was going on and one of the kids toys - a squishy spongebob squarepants - shot out of the lawnmower and broke one of our living room windows. The really ironic part is that squishy spongebob squarepants lost his arm in the accident. It stuck in the window screen while the rest of his body landed on the window ledge. Isn't that weird? Sucks that we have to buy a new window though.

Jimmy seems to be doing better emotionally now, but he's really frustrated with the whole police report & insurance crap. Its easy to put things back into prospective though when you stop to think about what the other family is going through and how bad it could have been for us. Thanks again for everyone's continued prayers & support.

The new playground

For the last year we've had to mow around the swingset Corry got for her 2nd birthday, & the sandbox Grandpa Jack & Grandma Connie got her has made a mess of the back porch & our kitchen floor! So we decided to clear out an area of our backyard to fill with bark mulch. We thought we were digging out a bunch of our backyard to make room for the sandbox & swingset & still have a little room for other outdoor toys, but we still have quite a bit of yard to mow. One day we hope to do some landscaping & get a pool, but until money starts growing on trees, we will have a big empty backyard. Here are some pics of the new play area.

Hope everyone had a great weekend - ours was pretty much just spent finishing up the play area & celebrating Uncle Olech's 28th birthday.

Totaled

Well, our Civic is totaled. Jimmy just got the call from the insurance company and they are not going to repair it. We're actually going to get way more out of it than we thought we would. Jimmy still wants to talk to the claims adjuster to see if he's had a chance to look at the police report yet & find out if based on the information in the report if they will go after the other people's insurance or not....the only difference it would really make for us is whether or not we have to pay our $500 deductable or not. I'm curious to see how much our rates go up next year. Oh well - at least Jimmy's in one piece - that's the most important thing. The car is actually in mine & my dad's name since I bought it right after I graduated from college & had no credit. Hopefully Dad will be willing to sign it over :)

That's the latest - still no return call from the officer on the other people. The police report did not indicate that the accident was fatal, so we're assuming the guy lived. We would like to know what they had to do about his arm though....

Police Report

Jimmy just got a copy of the police report. No charges are being filed, but the report verifies Jimmy's story. They were attempting to make a u-turn from the north-bound feeder using the traffic signals. Because there were no witnesses no charges are being filed. They did have insurance, and I believe our insurance company is going to go after theirs for the damages to the car. Not sure how succesful they'll be with that since the police report shows no charges being filed....and we really don't care one way or the other, our car can be replaced, and wasn't worth much anyway. Our main concern with the contents of the Police Report was that they may try to come after us - and they may still do that. If it comes to that we'll probably have to find an attormey, but we will have a very strong case. Still no word on the other people, but Jimmy was able to find from the police report that only the man was life flighted - the 2 women were taken by ambulance to The Woodlands hospital. The man was 53, the woman in the backseat was 47, & the passenger was 27 (or somewhere around there). He's going to attempt to call the officer again this afternoon to clarify a few things on the police report & to get a status on the other family.

I'll let you know as we hear more.

Since the guys were at their fantasy football draft tonight Deachi & I decided to take the kids to Chuckie Cheese for dinner. We told them they needed to get their shoes on so Drewski chose a lovely pair of plastic pink high heeled dress up shoes. I was brushing the girls hair & they each chose a bow - Drew obviously didn't want to be left out, so he chose a lovely red bow. Don't worry, Daddy - I didn't let him out of the house like this. He wore his Crocs to dinner & we left the bow & dress up shoes at home. Here are some pics from this evening & my first video clip. I'm not sure why its off center, but it should work just the same.

Thanks to everyone who has asked about Jimmy & the wreck - we still haven't gotten an update on the other family or the police report. Jimmy did hear from DPS today that they do have Jimmy's driver's license & insurance verification (the officer accidentally kept it). They are putting it in the mail, so hopefully he'll have it soon and we can rent a car & return Olech's truck back to him. In the meantime....we wait! We'll be sure & update everyone once we know more.
