The Orange Family
See Deachi's blog for some great pics of the kids and some family pics - but here are a few I took before we headed to the photo shoot - the Dautrichs decided to wear orange in honor of the Corry's favorite color & the upcoming OSU cowboy football season.

Drewski's pedicure
While the kids napped yesterday I decided to get out my foot spa & work on my feet a little. When Drew got up from his nap he felt it necessary to give it a whirl.

After naps we took the kids to Ghengis Grill - where you pick out all the different meats, seasonings, veggies & sauces you want and then they cook it up & bring it to you in a bowl....not a great place for Drew yet. He was being very helpful by picking fallen vegetables off the floor, but then putting them back in the trays they originally came from. I also caught him as he plucked a piece of broccoli out of a tray, took a few nibbles, decided he didn't want it, and was going to put it back where it came from....I snagged it just in time and managed to make it home with it still stuffed in my pocket. So, a word of warning - don't go eat at Ghengis after the Dautrich family. At least they cook the stuff, so hopefully it killed off some of the germs.

Drewski vs. the Car Door
Mom got all 4 home from the girls dance class this afternoon. Everyone was out of the car, but Drew lost a shoe on his way out. Just as mom shut the car door he reached up to balance himself while he put his shoe back on and his fingers got shut in the door. I think it was pretty traumatic (maybe more so for Grandma Chebs than Drew), but he seems perfectly fine now. First thing he told me when I got home was "I got my fingers caught in the white car." I did call the pediatricians office to see if I needed to bring him in & they told me if they were still swollen in the morning to come on in. I don't think that will be necessary though. Poor little guy! And Mom, just so you know, he is not blaming you, so I don't think he's aware that YOU are the one who caused him pain :)

Birthdays, Teachers, Potty Training, & Spelling!
We had a very eventful weekend, but alas, I took no pictures....shame on me.
Friday night we celebrated Jimmy's brother, Craig's 50th birthday & Tammi's birthday as well - I won't reveal her age (since I'm not exactly positive), but I think she's the same age as Deachi. We also included Jimmy's Dad's celebration with theirs as well. We enjoyed pizza & wings, and the kids had a blast bathing in Grandpa Jack & Grandma Connie's enormous bathtub. Calyn started requesting a bath the instant they walked into the house.
Saturday Corry's preschool teacher came to our home to meet Corry & to give us some information. She is a very nice lady and actually lives right here in our neighborhood! Bonus! Corry loved meeting Ms. Voekle & can hardly wait to start preschool in another couple weeks. She got to make her name tag with Ms. Voekle. When Ms. Voekle asked her what color she would like for her name to be Corry said "Well, my favorite color is orange." Ms. Voekle was then VERY excited to present Corry with her school t-shirt which just happened to be orange! Corry was thrilled, of course. Ms. Voekle said most kids aren't that excited when the see the color, so she was really happy that Corry loves orange.
After Corry's meeting with her teacher we headed to Little Gym, and to our surprise, Drew didn't want to wear a diaper, he wanted to wear his big boy Thomas underwear. I decided to go with it, and if he had an accident, so be it. He was terrible at gymnastics (didn't want to stay in there) which is an increasing trend with him, but on the pee pee front, he did excellent. After gymnastics we ate lunch & before nap I had him go pee pee on the potty & he napped with big boy underwear & stayed completely dry! Yea Drew!
After nap we headed to Old Town Spring to have dinner for Jerry's (my sister-in-law's brother) 23rd birthday. The kids had a wonderful time & Drew continued to stay dry throughout dinner. For bedtime he wore a pull-up because he never stays dry all night long, but I figured we were on a role, so I'd continue on today with the big boy underwear.
This morning we put on the big boy underwear after he took a bath. He did fine most of the morning & then after we had lunch he went into our bedroom to watch Thomas. Within a few minutes he came out and announced "I peed my pants." Sure enough, his shorts & undies were all wet. When I went in the bedroom to investigate there was an enormous puddle on the ground......grrrrr.
So, on went a diaper for nap time. He woke up from his nap with pee pee diaper. We headed to the swimming pool for an hour or so & when we got home we realized we were out of diapers & pull ups, so he was going to have to wear big boy underwear to dinner & grocery shopping. We had him pee pee in the potty & he unloaded, so I think he'd been holding it awhile.
When we got home from grocery shopping he started to head upstairs which is usually where he goes to poop. I told him that if he needed to pee or poop he needed to tell me & not to do it in his big boy pants. He came right back down & said he needed to pee pee, so he did - in the potty. What a big boy!
He heads back upstairs and within minutes comes back down announcing "I pooped" with a mischievous little grin on his face. I said, "Drew, did you poop in your Thomas underwear?" and he said "Nope!" So I thought for a second he was just yanking my chain about pooping.....then he followed up with "It was in my Diego underwear."
So, we're down a pair of Diego underwear, and he's back in diapers. I just don't think he's ready yet.....but I have to wonder, will he EVER be ready?
And a little Corry update - she LOVES to play on the computer which is drastically cutting into my Internet time, so if you notice I'm not updating the blog as much, that's why! Today while they were resting I went to try & find her some school clothes, but I really didn't want to buy fall stuff because it will still be hot down here for at least a couple more months, & I knew if I bought her fall/winter stuff she'd want to wear it now. However, I couldn't resist a cute long sleeved t-shirt from Old Navy that I knew she'd love. It has a big "C" on it and a kitty cat & says "C is for Cat."
So I was talking to her about the shirt before I showed it to her. When I told her what I said, I asked her if she knew that Cat started with the same letter as her name. She said "Yes, and the second letter is also the second letter in Calyn's name." I asked her if she knew what the third letter was and she said "Yes, its a T." I asked her where she learned to spell cat, and she told me that Dora taught her on the computer. Good grief. So at the pool I decided to find out if Dora had taught her anything else. I asked her if she knew how to spell Dog. She said no. So I said well, let's sound out what it starts with. Before I could even sound out the "D" she shouted out the letter. I asked her if she knew what came next and she said "no." Then immediately said "O!" I asked her what the last letter was and she shouted "G!" I think this little girl has an awfully great memory when it comes to her letters...she's loved spelling since she was 18 months old! I need to start working with her on her sight words, as I'm told this will help her to start reading much quicker if she can recognize all the "is" "the" "and" etc.
Anyway, that's the latest at the Dautrich house. It seemed very quiet & almost lonely here without Andrew at the beginning of the week, but we stayed so busy this weekend that I don't think the kids had a chance to notice his absence. They still ask about him though, and can't wait to see him in September!
Hope everyone has a great week - please keep your fingers crossed for us that we're not still changing Drew's diaper when he's 16.

Drew's 3 year stats
Drew had his 3 year appt today - that along with dentist appointments for both kids made for quite an eventful day (see post below for details on the dentist visit).
He's doing great - he's 50% in height & weight. He got one shot & didn't even cry - what a big boy! Since Corry was with us & they had just received their shipment of the flu mist, both kids got that as well....very awesome alternative to having to get another shot, they just spray it up each nostril.
I'm back to work tomorrow, but had a really fun day with my babies today!

To the dentist....
I know we're horrible, but we're just now taking the kids to the dentist. It was put off for awhile because they weren't on our dental plan yet, but we did finally get them added in the spring. We've just been so busy the appointment never got made. I took the day off work today to take them to the dentist & then Drew has his 3 year well child appointment this afternoon at 4:00.
All I can say is Wow! These babies exceeded my expectations in every way at their first trip to the dentist, and the pediatric dentist they saw was wonderful. The waiting room had guitar hero, video games, books, etc. The Dr. himself came out to the waiting room to get the kids (& Jimmy & me) & explained to us how it all would work. They even said if they weren't comfortable laying in the chairs they could sit in our laps....and if they needed to scream and cry that was perfectly fine - it was easier to see their teeth.
Corry went first & Drew watched (he sat on my lap farting like a 300lb man which was embarrassing, but oh well). They had TVs on the ceiling, so she got to watch A Bug's Life while she got her teeth cleaned & flossed. Then she went off to get x-rays & they started Drew's cleaning. At first he didn't want to lay on the chair, but when she offered to turn on Bob the Builder on the ceiling for him he laid right down & was a great patient! He did phenomenal getting his x-rays as well.
The Dr. said both their teeth look great & they both got good brusher awards since neither one had any cavities.
Corry couldn't wait to brush her teeth with her new toothbrush & toothpaste when we got home. They even got little timers that tell them how long they should brush their teeth. She didn't quite grasp that concept because she was all proud of herself for finishing brushing before the sand all ran out. She didn't floss since she decided to pull out every last bit of the floss from the dispenser on the car ride home. Oh well. They told us to buy the flossing tools with the long handles & just floss between their molars since they still have lots of spaces in the front teeth.
Here's a picture of my big girl testing out the new toothbrush & toothpaste (Drew wanted no part of it). She's actually starting to freak out in this picture because she got a little carried away with the toothpaste and it got all over her beloved kitty cat tank top.
I'm sure I'll have another update this evening after Drew's doctor appointment. I'm completely dreading that one because I'm pretty sure he has to get a shot :( Plus he has a big bruise on his chin & nobody knows how it happened....the joys of having a dare devil little boy, I guess!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Jack!
I'm a little late getting this posted, but today is Grandpa Jack's 77th birthday (for about another hour & a half, anyway). Here's Drew's rendition of Happy Birthday!

Pictures for the week
Corry and Calyn went to day camp this week at The Little Gym on Tuesday & Thursday. They had lots of fun & it gave Grandma Chebs the opportunity to have some boy time with Drew & Max. She took the boys swimming while the girls were at camp.
Last night we went to the Crue Fest concert, this morning we had Little Gym, & then this afternoon Deachi & I will head downtown to see George Strait!
Tomorrow we're having a gathering since it will be Andrew's last day with us. We've soooo enjoyed having him stay with us this summer & are really sad to see him head back to school. Corry almost started crying when I told her Andrew would be leaving. She wanted to know why he had to go back to Oklahoma. When I told her it was because he had to go to school, she said "He can just stay here & go to my school." Andrew thinks that learning his letters & numbers sounds like a much better idea than taking boring old engineering classes, but I think he's still going to head back to Stillwater anyway.
We're planning a trip up to Oklahoma the weekend of September 25. We're going to try to get tickets to an OSU football game & Thomas the Tank Engine will be in OKC that weekend as well. At this point it looks like we'll try to head up that Thursday after Corry gets out of school (at 1:00) and then come back that Monday. Hopefully you Oklahomans will be around that weekend!
Here are a few pictures from the last week (mostly this morning)

A bike ride to the park
This evening the kids rode their bikes all the way to the park by Matt & Deachi's house. They both did an amazing job & looked absolutely adorable in their little helmets. Drew even decided he needed to wear big boy underwear for the occasion. We had some racing action going at times...too cute. Wish I had brought my camera - maybe next time!

Happy Birthday Little Man!
Drew turns 3 today! What a fast 3 years it has been. He's had a wonderful birthday. We had his big family party yesterday evening. He started off the afternoon by putting every single Thomas sticker from 3 sheets on his body.
The finished product
The instant he put the last sticker on and smiled for the camera, he was ready to take them all off.
We set up a slip n slide & the little kiddie pool in the backyard. All the kids seemed to have lots of fun with these. We also spent 2 hours Friday night filling up an entire trashcan full of water balloons. Those were a huge success. Olech & Andrew won the water balloon toss competition.
Corry chose this dress to wear to the party because it is her "magical dress" It is actually a dress that my Grandma made me when I was litte. Doesn't she look adorable in it?
Drew going for a spin on the new Thomas bike that Grandma & Grandpa gave him.
Drew with all of his loot
Drew got the Sheds at Tidmouth for his birthday so Jimmy & Andrew cleared out a big space in the playroom & set up a massive track & bridge system.
The tracks (& Maddie) before they were assembled.
And a short video clip of the finished product. It took several hours to complete! But I guess that's what happens when you have an engineer & an engineer in training trying to build things. If I had put it together it would probably just be in one big circle. I just wonder how long it will be before Drew demolishes it.
This evening we are going to go to dinner with the family at a restaurant of Drew's choice - it has yet to be determined. For now, he (& Jimmy & Andrew) are enjoying all his new trains & other presents that he got yesterday.
