Hate

Telling someone you hate them is a spankable offense in the Dautrich house. It's fine to say "I'm frustrated with you,"  "You are upsetting me,"  "You are making me mad."  etc., but I absolutely cannot stand to hear anyone, especially a child telling anyone they hate them.  I know it's a common thing, and I should probably get over it, but I'm going to do everything I can to avoid the "hate" word when directed at a human.

With that said, Drew was eating breakfast naked this morning.  He was having his leftover chicken tenders & dipping them in ranch (don't judge me for the less than nutritious breakfast).  Calyn joined him at the table & wanted some chicken as well.  It took some convincing, but he forfeited some chicken to Calyn.  Then Calyn had the audacity to ask for the coveted ranch.  Deachi & I were going to split the ranch & he went crazy.  He looked at me and told me he hated me.  I headed towards him and asked "What did you just say to me?"  His naked little body took off running around the house with me chasing him.

When I finally caught him, I grabbed him by the shoulders and asked "What do you have to say to me?"  With brows furrowed & in a mean voice he barked "Sorry."  I said "Don't you want to change your tone?"  In a little nicer voice he said "Sorry."  I asked "Why are you sorry?"

His answer:

"I'm sorry for hating you."

Puppies!

These guys are the cutest little things EVER. For whatever reason Jimmy does not think we need a puppy to add to our increasing household of 4 adults, 4 children, and 4 dogs. I say, "what's one more?" He's so unreasonable. Corry is super excited because Miss Patti asked the kids to help her choose names for the 10 puppeis. She needs 8 girl & 2 boy names before they go for their 6 week appointments. They are 4 weeks old right now. Their records will be established at that time.

The Fairy Tale Project

Mainly I wanted to post pictures of Corry's Spring Project. I will get to that in a moment, but first here are a few other pictures:

Jimmy had all the pieces out to begin assembling his big piece of weight lifting equipment.  It is all together, but I haven't posted a picture of the final product.  Here are some of the during:

Jimmy reading instructions while Drew makes it snow in the background with a piece of styrofoam.  I have swept 3 times and there are still bits of styrofoam everywhere.

Drew & Calyn had a birthday party for a classmate today at Potteryland.  Drew had fun, but I was a nervous wreck - there was pottery everywhere, and I was certain Drew would be the maniac to take out the whole display.  He surprised me and didn't break anything, however he was worn out when we got home!  He passed out while waiting for dinner to be served, and stayed this way for almost an hour.
Corry had to do a project.  The subject was "Fairy Tale Project"  They've been studying fairtales and the different parts of fairytales in school over the last several weeks.  They had to choose one of their favorites and do a project to be displayed at school on Wednesday for Spring Family Night.  Corry chose "Princess and the Pea."  Daddy built her a bed made of wood.  We made mattresses out of sponges, and there is a "pea" which is really a green bead.  Miss Corry LOVED painting and decorating the bed.  This princess has a VERY colorful bed!  It has to be something Corry can transport herself, so Jimmy made a very high 4 poster bed so that the sponges won't shift around.

De-cluttering frenzy & ice cream too

I guess I'm slacking again - I realized I hadn't updated the blog in over a week - so here's a little recap....

I started exercising last week....well I did it one day and was so sore the next I had to walk down the stairs backwards. I'm quite embarrassed to admit that it was from doing Wii Active Fit Personal Trainer. Somebody has obviously gone too long without exercising.

The rest of the week was same old stuff - homework, dinner, boring day to day things.

On Saturday I spent much of the morning & afternoon cramming every attic space we have full of toys (shhhh - don't tell the kids). We are desperately trying to make room for the Paynes so they aren't completely cramped when they move in over the next couple of weeks.

Andrew's room aka the guest room soon to be known as Aunt Deachi & Uncle Matt's room is now empty with the exception of the dressers they will be using for their clothes. We found some rare gems in the closet which I'm sure had Andrew wondering WTF the entire time he was living with us.

These are VCRs.  The one on bottom I know Santa Claus brought me when I was in highschool (and FYI - I graduated 18 years ago).  The one on top I feel quite certain had to have been the Dautrich family's first VCR.  Why these items have been held onto for so long I cannot explain.  They are now resting comfortably outside the guest room closet, and our home for that matter.

After many hours of decluttering and purging, Jimmy & I got ready for a date night with Matt, Deachi, Robert & Lindsay downtown.  When I came out of the bathroom from my shower I found these two all packed up and sitting patiently on the entry way bench waiting for Grandma Chebs & Grandpa Bob to arrive for their special evening together.

The adults enjoyed a nice low key evening at Little Big's Sliders (a VERY casual/dive restaurant) down in Montrose.  Afterwards we went to an English Pub called the Black Labrador & had a few drinks & laughs.
Sunday morning was more cleaning, purging & laundry.  Much to Deachi's & my dismay, the guys headed out for a round of golf.  The kids were excited to explore the new layout of the upstairs when suddenly the sound of ice cream truck music rang in the air!  Since neither Deachi nor I had any cash, Corry graciouslytreated everyone to ice cream with the $20 she earned after a bribe from Daddy to eat chicken scampi (another story that I will save for another post).  She did end up getting reimbursed for her generosity.
No particular reason for this picture being on here other than I have the most beautiful niece around!
So after all the cleaning, decluttering, trashing, etc Jimmy decided the time was right to buy the biggest piece of weight lifting equipment he could find.  Since there is absolutely no place for this monstrosity to go with the move in of 2 more adults, 2 more children, & 2 more dogs....the beast is going into our BEDROOM until we once again have a spare room to put it in.  Jimmy's original thought was to put it on my side of the bed so that I would have to do acrobatics to get out of bed and would also lose access to some dresser drawers.  After some serious butt chewing, he reconsidered & decided displacing the dogs and sliding the bed over a few feet would be a better idea.

The dogs new resting place - Maddie wasn't so sure at first, but as you can see, she has adapted.
The monstrosity is not assembled yet.  I can't even begin to describe how enthused I am to have this moving into our room.  I will be sure and post pictures once it is assembled.  Prepare to be wowed with its awesomeness.

So please, if you are visiting the Dautrich house anytime in the near future - have pity on us.  It ain't easy making room for a whole new family & a piece of exercise equipment the size of our house.

That's all I've got for tonight!
