"Huh - Ooooo-Terrrrs"
The other day we were heading to Randy's football game at Woodforest Stadium behind the Portifino Shopping Center. Corry & Calyn were riding in our car & the boys were with Matt & Deachi. To get to the Stadium we turned down a side street by the shopping center that runs right by Hooters. We've driven by Hooters countless times, since it is right on the I45 feeder road that we have to take to get to our house, but it's never really caught anyone's attention.
As we are passing by, Calyn asks Corry...."Corry, what does Huh - Ooooo-Terrrrs spell?" (sounding it out) To which Corry quickly replies "Hooters." We laughed and laughed at the situation and told Matt & Deachi about it once we arrived at the stadium.
After hearing us talk about the scene with various people, the kids wanted to know what Hooters is. I told them it's a restaurant where the waitresses walk around in really tight clothes that are so small their booties & boobs stick out of their clothes, and that it's called Hooters because that's what some people call boobs. I further explained that the waitresses usually have big boobs.
Drew keeps asking to go eat at Hooters "where the girls walk around naked." We were backing out of the driveway the other evening to eat at Pei Wei which both kids love. One of them suggested we eat at Hooters instead. Jimmy threw the car in park & announced that he would have to go change clothes if we were going to Hooters. ????? A t-shirt and shorts are fine for Pei Wei, but not Hooters? Don't flatter yourself old man....the Hooters girls are not interested. I was not up for Hooters, so I vetoed that plan.
Last night the kids finally got their wish. We went to Hooters. I told Drew over & over that I did not want to hear him talk about booties, boobs, or being naked to any of the waitresses. He agreed. Our waitress came and took our drink order. After she walked away he said "I don't see anyone's butt showing." I pointed his eyes in the direction of the waitress at the computer entering our drink order and asked him to look at her shorts. I then asked him what he saw sticking out of the bottom of her shorts, and he said "I see a little bit of a bootie."
Corry noticed a giant banner across the bar and let us know that "Kids eat free on Tuesday. But not just some Tuesdays, EVERY Tuesday." Both kids thought it was the best restaurant they had ever been to and want to go back every Tuesday. Just our luck, every Tuesday in December you can see the waitresses in their "sexy santa" uniforms. Joy. Just to set the record straight - we will NOT be going to Hooters every Tuesday.
When we got into the car Drew let us know that he did not see any boobs sticking out of shirts. Jimmy agreed that the Hooters were nothing too large, and then there were inappropriate remarks made about parts of mommy's anatomy. Drew thought perhaps I should get a job there.
So there's my Hooters story. I don't think I had been to a Hooters since before the kids were born....and now I remember why.
Also, I will never think of it as Hooters again. It will forever be stuck in my mind as "Huh-Ooooo-Terrrrs." Thank you, Calyn Grace Payne.

The big Christmas Tree & the Children's Festival
Drew has been begging to get his picture made in front of the giant Christmas Tree in Market Street, so today we had free tickets to go to the Children's Festival at the Pavillon, so we had lunch at Market Street & then took pictures at the tree before heading to the Festival
The Children's festival was fun for the kiddos - Deachi was able to score free tickets through her work, so that made it even better! Thomas and his "Driver Sam" were on the big stage and did a sing-a-long, so the kids thought that was pretty neat. I got a few pictures as we were waiting for the sing-a-long, then my camera froze, so I didn't get any more pictures.
After the sing a long the kids did a relay race where they wore parachutes on their backs and ran up and down the hill at the pavillon, then they got to make their own kites & fly them on the Pavillion lawn. There were plenty of other activities, but that was enough to wear them out!
After the Pavillion we headed to Tinseltown & saw Puss In Boots. Busy, but fun day!
